The Thrift Shopper is an on-line Charity Thrift Store directory as well as home to The National Thrifter, an on-line thrifting magazine. This website has forums so that can connect and chat with other likeminded thrifters world-wide.
Craig’s List
CL (Craig’s List) is a community board and forum. On CL you can find a job, a husband, a car, books, toys, clothing and especially eco chic items. I have sold on CL’s and I have bought many items on CL’s. The best thing about Craig’s List is that it is free to post items for sale.
The Salvage Studio
While shopping for thrifty treasures at our local Goodwill Outlet last year, I stumbled upon the Salvage Studio gals. Goodwill was hosting a workshop on taking junk and recycling it into something chic and cool for your home or garden. They even gave suggestions for emergency foods when you’re on a thrift run for five hours straight. You can even have your own private party with them at the Salvage Studio in Edmonds, WA.
Book Sale Finder
Try to ignore the large amount of advertising on this site and go straight to the map and click on your state. This website is a gift to those that enjoy escaping to library book sales. I receive weekly emails from Book Sale Finder notifying me of any upcoming book sales within a 100 miles of my home.
Freecycle can be the best for of thrifting there is because like their name, everything is free. In fact if you try asking for money you get a scolding email from the list moderator. Freecycle is run in an email group form generally through Yahoo Groups. People post their items to give away and you have to be quick on the keyboard because free items go quickly.
Goodwill Auctions decided that instead of giving eBay fees for listing items, they would start their own auction house. Of course these are all the really cool items that never even made it to the shelves at your local thrift stores. Their variety of quality of items is very good and you'll find all your favorite collectables up for bid.
